Ezekiel shared a vision about his journey into the deep places of the river of God (Ezk. 47). First he was ankle deep in this river, indicating he could enjoy a measure of its blessings yet remain in control. Next, he journeyed knee deep, and then waist deep into the river, signifying less control over his life but more surrender to the move of the Spirit. Finally, he became beautifully submerged in the deep waters. No longer in control at all, Ezekiel was fully immersed in the supernatural river coming from the throne of God.
What intrigued me the most about this passage is that Ezekiel did not take himself into the deep waters. I believe that he couldn’t take himself in! In the vision, he had to be led into the deep waters by a heavenly man. This shows us that our efforts and striving can only get us so far. To really go deep into the river of the Spirit, we have to be led in by the Spirit Himself. It’s a surrender within a relationship much more than it’s a striving. Surrender your life! Surrender your heart! Surrender everything and seek a heart-felt relationship with the Spirit of God! The trade-off, eventually, is to be led into an experience that leaves you ruined for what you’ve known, but also completely undone. You can’t find these deep places of the Spirit unless He takes you there. And, you can’t swim in the deep waters without His heavenly help.
You Are Going On a Journey
I’m a prophet, and a seer. That means I see the word of the Lord more than I hear the word of the Lord (I Sam. 9:9). Neither one is better than the other. It’s just how God chooses to communicate with me. I’ll see His prophetic word, feel His prophetic word, and/or “read” the voice of God superimposed upon my ordinary world.
With that in mind, He recently directed my inner eyes to the “sea” and He told me to look at it. I did what He told me to do. I looked at the sea with my inner eyes and considered what I saw. He then told me why I was to do that. He said, “I want you to look to the sea” because you’re going to see deeper and you’re going to see new things. It was a play on words and a riddle. It was also the beginning of a new journey and a prophetic word.
“The one who sees is the one in authority” – Pastor Ron Eivaz
Elisha was surrounded by his enemies, the Arameans, yet he was calm and in control of the situation (2 Kings 6: 8-23). Why? Because he could see what heaven was doing about it. He saw the angel armies all across the horizon and knew he was divinely protected. Because he could see what others couldn’t, Elisha was the one in authority. Elisha took further charge of the situation and as his enemies approached him, he asked the Lord to strike them with blindness. The Lord answered his prayer and his enemies were suddenly blinded and confused as to their whereabouts. Elisha, now unrecognizable to them, convinced his enemies that they were going the wrong way and was able to rerout them into a position of surrender to the king of Israel.
He spoke to my heart about how He is anointing His church to see with the eyes of the Spirit and to see deeper than ever before. He is raising the standard against our enemies by giving us the weapon of spiritual sight. If you can see what is in the dark, then you will not stay in the dark. You will know how to pray and you will respond intelligently because you will know exactly what you are dealing with.
So shall they fear
The name of the Lord from the west,
And His glory from the rising of the sun;
When the enemy comes in like a flood,
The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. ~ Is. 59:19 NKJV
He is replacing stony hearts with a heart of flesh
At the same time, the Holy Spirit is examining our hearts:
Have you stopped feeling?
Are you heart-broken?
Has your love grown cold?
Does your heart feel hard?
Ezk. 36:26 NLT – And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.
If this is you, the Holy Spirit is counseling you to present your heart to Him for repair, resuscitation, and supernatural healing. He is the healer of the broken hearted and He can mend a stony heart. He promises to visit you with supernatural intimacy to resuscitate your heart so you can feel again, and love again. Why is this important? Because a hard heart is a blind heart (Matt. 13:15). You can’t see what the Spirit is saying because it requires the eyes of your heart to do so. And if you can’t see what He is saying, you will not walk in authority. Your enemies will overtake you because of your inability to see them coming.
Make This Your Prayer:
Holy Spirit, I present to you my heart. I invite you to be the Architect and Master Craftsman of my heart. Visit me with Your intimacy and reshape my heart so I can love again. Clear the stones from my heart so that I can see and feel again. Revive my heart and create new worship within me! Enlarge my heart so that I may run fully and fervently after You.
You Will See New Things Because He is Doing a New Thing
Behold I will do a new thing… ~ Is. 43:19
I had mentioned that He directed the eyes of my heart to the sea because He was preparing me to see deeper, and to see new things. With that said, I began to take notice of different sea creatures and aspects of the sea with interest. He speaks about Himself through creation, yet I’ve never took notice before of anything offshore until now.
Here are just a few:
* Pay attention to currents. Currents create climates.
* The Sea Anemone can be a warning to us to “SEE-AN-ENEMY.” It’s small, but it has tentacles and venom and can swallow up things that are bigger in size.
* Seahorses have excellent eyesight and their eyes are able to work independently on either side of their head. This means they can look forwards and backwards at the same time. Just like God’s NEW BREED OF SEERS.
* Shorelines are like God’s commandments. They show us the need for God ordained boundaries.
* A Leviathan is a sea serpent. Spiritually, it is the king of pride. To defeat it, you have to go low because He exalts the humble, but humbles the prideful.
* A tidal wave is caused by conditions above, but a tsunami is caused by conditions below. It can look the same, but has a different source. This shows us that we can’t judge everything the same. We can’t pray for everything the same. We have to discern root causes in order to know how to pray intelligently.
Why New Symbols, Signs, and Analogies?
It’s because He is expanding our spiritual sight to include a new language in connection with the sea. He said, “Look to the sea” and you will see deeper and you will see new things. Watch in the coming days. You’ll have dreams and visions about the ocean or things in connection with the sea. Or, you’ll notice things in your ordinary world that will point your eyes to things offshore and you’ll feel the breath of the Spirit on it. Pay attention. He is speaking, and through it He is raising His standard in your life. He is giving you new things to call out and decree. He is giving you fresh authority to rise above your enemies.
